Food and music - We are proud to offer high quality evening meals and music to guests and non-residents. Special summer evenings include informal talks, traditional Scottish music and Hebridean tasting meals

The Hebridean Way - This is the perfect stop for cyclists and walkers as we are situated at the north end of The Hebridean Way. We are always happy to prepare a hearty meal to help you celebrate your completion of the Hebridean Way or start you off on your challenge. Our drying room can be very useful if the weather is unkind.

Wildlife - Keep your eyes peeled for seals, otters, whales, dolphins. We live in a nature reserve where birds and wild flowers abound and there is a hide just a couple of minutes walk away at Loch Stiapabhat.

Magnificent beaches - We are close to Eoropie, Port Stoth and Port of Ness beaches all of which are great to explore, paddle, swim or even surf. There are local surfing instructors and equipment hire.

Walking - Explore cliffs, beaches, archaeology and the beauty of this unspoilt environment.

The Peter May Black House trilogy has a strong focus in this area and we are a great base to experience the Peter May locations and atmosphere.

Evening restaurant

Expect hearty portions prepared with care and love often accompanied by Pete on the grand piano.

All our food is sourced as locally and as ethically as possible from an excellent range of freshly caught fish and meat. This is usually slowly and gently roasted or braised to create succulant tender tasty dishes in a traditionally Scottish manner.

Evening meals must be booked in advance and we will discuss the menu in advance as we do not generally offer a choice.

"Perfect in every way. What a cracking place to stay whilst cycling the Hebridean Way. Louise and Pete were very welcoming of my cousin and I. The room itself was warm, cosy with thick duvets and a jacuzzi bath for sore muscles. Zoe and Elaine, Fife August 2017

"Amazing hospitality! Great room, home made soaps and a comfortable bed. Great food and fabulous hosts! Thoroughly recommend! Stayed with family and enjoyed an evening meal and great music! The breakfast was fantastic too. The communal sitting room was huge and very comfortable". Morgan S August 2017

"Stayed at The Decca this weekend and it was great. Pete & Louise are fantastic hosts. It's not like staying in a hotel and more like staying with friends or family. They have a great laid back manner and allow you to treat their lovely home like it's your own. They are in the most beautiful location, close to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse and a gorgeous little harbour. It's ideally situated for walking, cycling and just generally getting away from everything. I hope I can get back for a visit soon!"Deb,  Belshill, July 2017

Louise's cook book

My cooking book has a range of recipes that I cook here at the Decca. I was encouraged to write it by lots of requests from our guests.

I am very happy to be able to offer it for sale at £10 or £12 including P&P.
